Multan Sultans are on a five-match losing streak in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). After losing the last three games in the previous edition, they have lost their first two matches in the ongoing season as well. On Tuesday, they failed to defend 193, losing to the Peshawar Zalmi by six wickets. Their next match is against Lahore Qalandars in the first of Friday’s doubleheader at the National Stadium.

The Qalandars, on the other hand, are placed on top of the points table with victories in their first two matches. Sohail Akhtar and Co must be brimming with confidence after their nine-wicket victory over Quetta Gladiators. However, they won’t be having the services of leg-spin bowler Rashid Khan, who has left due to national duties. On head-to-head count, the Qalandars lead the Sultans by 4-3.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Karachi has been an absolute belter for batting in recent times. Though the first few games weren’t as high-scoring as expected, the scores have gone up significantly ever since. Batting second should be the way forward as all the games until now have been won by the chasing team. The temperature will be around 31 degrees Celsius with the humidity mostly in the high-30s.

Mohammad Hafeez has been in scintillating form in the ongoing edition of the PSL. In the first two games, he scored 106 runs at a strike-rate of 179.66. Most importantly, he is yet to get out in the tournament. The unbeaten 73 he got against the Gladiators should keep him in a positive frame of mind.

Mohammad Rizwan– Multan Sultans

Mohammad Rizwan has managed to carry on with his decent run of form in the PSL. With 112 runs in two games at an average of 56, he hasn’t looked in much trouble. A strike-rate of 138.27 also indicates that he hasn’t found scoring tough. The Sultans would again be looking up to him for a decent knock.
