One of the leading Bollywood actors of his time, Vinod Khanna breathed his last today. The legendary actor was suffering from cancer and passed away this afternoon in a private hospital in Mumbai. He was 70 years of age. Tributes started pouring for Mr. Khanna as soon as the dreaded news surfaced.

Cricketers too offered condolences with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif and the others tweeting in memory of the great actor. There was again confusion on Twitter today.

A few days back when Zaheer announced his engagement with Sagarika Ghatge, the Twitter accounts of Anil Kumble and Delhi Daredevils tagged the wrong Sagarika (Ghose) in a congratulatory message.

Both realised their mistakes but Ghose took the error in a sporting manner and in turn replied with a humorous tweet saying that she can’t marry anyone as she is already married with two kids. A similar error was made by one user on Twitter, though he wasn’t a celebrity.

An account named ‘TweetErrant’ tagged former India cricketer Vinod Kambli instead of the deceased Vinod Khanna. It looked like an honest mistake as Kambli fans pointed out the error and the user promptly deleted the tweet. This gave an opportunity to other Twitterati to have a go at Kambli.

After being tagged on a number of posts, Kambli hit back at the ‘trollers’ terming their act as insensitive.

The former Indian cricketer blasted out on the user saying that tagging him instead of Vinod Khanna is insensitive and people should have some respect for the legendary actor.

The TweetErrant user apologised but till then Kambli had already blocked him.

People on social media fear no one these days. The passing of someone of the stature of Vinod Khanna didn’t bother them as they resorted to trolling. It was, indeed, as Vinod Kambli described it – shameful.
