Preview

England (ENG) and India (IND) will take on each other in the second Test of the ongoing five-match series. The match will start on Wednesday, July 2, at Edgbaston in Birmingham. England had named Jofra Archer in the squad for this game, but announced an unchanged playing 11. India might make a couple of changes in the playing 11. It is still not clear whether Jasprit Bumrah will play this match or not.

The first match of the series ended in England’s favor as they chased down the target of 371 runs with five wickets in hand. India’s top order had a terrific outing with the bat in the match. However, the middle-order failed to join the party. The top five batters made a total of 721 runs in the match, while the remaining six could score just 65 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant scored a century each in the first innings. KL Rahul and Pant scored a century for the team in the second innings. During this process, Pant became the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a century in each of the innings of a Test match. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for India and took a fifer in the first innings.

England saw a century from Ollie Pope in the first innings. Harry Brook missed a well-deserved century by just one run as he was dismissed for 99 runs. Ben Duckett dominated the second innings as he made 149 runs off 170 deliveries. He had scored a half-century in the first innings and won the Player of the Match award.
