Social media is a boon when it comes to coming closer to your favorite celebrities through it. But at the same time, it is not often that your Tweet is responded to. And thus some fans still like to send letters to their favorite cricketers, in hope of a reply. For a certain Karan Gandhi, April 17 will thus remain as a special day.

Sachin Tendulkar replied to the fan’s hand written letter with a “thank you”. But Karan sure must have done something out of the box to earn that reply. What was it?

He wrote a hand-written letter to the cricket legend, which Tendulkar uploaded on his Instagram account which is followed by nearly 6.1 billion people.

Tendulkar has innumerable fans, but Karan was lucky to get a reply. When Tendulkar played day-night Internationals, Karan, who lives in the US, skipped his coaching classes to watch his batting.

“Dear Sachin, my name is Karan, I currently live in the US but am originally from India. I grew up seeing you play cricket. I missed countless tuition classes to watch you play day and night ODIs in India. I have always meant to write to you and express how honored I am to be your fan and time and again be inspired by your sportsmanship and work ethic on the field,” Karan wrote.

He also understood that Tendulkar is a busy person with many fans writing letters to him, but mentioned that he would love to get a response from the Master Blaster.

“Sachin, I know you have a busy life now, but I would love to receive a letter from you. I collect hand signed letters from people I admire and I’d love to get one from you. I’d really cherish that letter,” he added.

In response to the letter which touched Sachin’s heart, Tendulkar posted a picture of the letter on his “Instagram” account, “Thank you for the letter, Karan Gandhi! I’m sure your childhood tuition teacher mustn’t have been too happy when ODI matches were on.:).”

Sachin recently released the trailer of his much-awaited biopic, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, which crossed a million views in less than 24 hours of its release. The movie is all set to be released on May 26.
