Mahela Jayawardene's funny reply shuts down a Twitterati

Former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene is currently the fan favourite on Twitter. He can often be seen taking a slight dig at some of the ‘couch critics’ on Twitter. Sri Lanka lost the 3rd ODI to India by 6 wickets, and have now lost any scope of clinching the series. Dinesh Chandimal played one of the slowest knocks during the 3rd ODI. He scored 36 runs off 71 balls, with just four boundaries.

The Sri Lankan fans were not pleased after their side lost the third consecutive game of the series. The match was brought to a halt after bottles were thrown on the ground. One disappointed fan asked former captain Mahela Jayawardene, what he thinks of Chandimal’s slow paced knock. The former was in a jovial mood and replied to him in a funny manner.

The former cricketer replied, “You are trying to get the attention of the wrong person… ”. The conversation didn’t take any more turns and even the fan didn’t take it further.

Lahiru Thirimanne scored a solid 80, as Lanka managed just 217/9 in 50 overs. India looked troubled during the initial stage of the chase, with the scoreboard reading 61/4 at one point. Opener Rohit Sharma scored a match winning 123 and stayed unbeaten till the end. He was supported well from the other end by former skipper MS Dhoni.

Dhoni scored an unbeaten 67 off 86 balls and didn’t let Lankans make any further trouble. India wrapped up the game with 29 balls to spare. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah was awarded the man of the match for his career best figures of 5/27.
