The sorry state of Sri Lankan cricket has hurt a lot of former cricketers from the country. The likes of Arjuna Ranatunga, Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene are trying to give inputs for the betterment of cricket but nothing seems to be working out for the Islanders.
Sri Lanka winless against India after 6 games
Sri Lanka slipped to their third consecutive defeat in the ongoing ODI series against India in Kandy. The loss ensured that the hosts remain winless in the series with just 2 ODIs and a lone T20 to go before the conclusion of the tour. Though they have shown sparks of brilliance in the last two games as a bowling team, they did not have the belief or firepower to sustain the pressure on the visiting side and eventually succumbed to losses. Their batting has been very disappointing as the unit has not even once registered a total in excess of 250 in the ODI series.
Former skipper Mahela Jayawardene has been active on Twitter and has been giving valuable advice for the national team. Recently, a lady expressed his displeasure with Jayawardene and other former cricketers and asked them to do more than just tweeting. The comment wasn’t taken down well by Jayawardene and he was prompt in his reply.
We have to back our players and have faith in them. No other instant solution. Not blaming any one just sounding my thoughts.

We've had faith, a lot of faith. There is always a breaking point. You guys need to do something apart from tweeting !

After getting bashed in the Test series 3-0, fans expected a better performance from the Sri Lankans in the limited overs series. The only positive coming out of the ODI series is that the home side has competed and applied pressure on the Indians in the last two games. Being an international team and a former World Cup winning country, they should be doing more than just competing.
Playing at home was Sri Lanka’s forte but that seems to be a thing of the past now. After getting beaten by lowly Zimbabwe by 3-2 not too long ago, they have lost another series playing at home.
