Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s recent addition to his fan list is none other that South Africa’s ace spinner Imran Tahir. The South African leggie and Dhoni are currently sharing the same dressing room for the Rising Pune Supergiant this season.

Imran Tahir made a devastating impact in the first match against Mumbai Indians team as he dismissed their top three batsmen namely – Parthiv Patel, Jos Buttler and Rohit Sharma.

Over the years, the right-armer has proved to be an asset for the Delhi team formerly. He picked up as many as 32 wickets in 21 matches for the side at an economy of 8.52 and an average of 14.21.

In an interview with iplt20.com, the Pakistan-born South African spinner was all praises for one of the greatest finishers the game has ever seen. Tahir went on to claim that he has the greatest admiration for the man who led the Indian side in all the formats of the game for a substantial amount of time.

“I have a lot of respect for MS Dhoni, for what has he has achieved for India and for himself. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met,” quoting the 38-year old leggie.

He further added that his guidance was inestimable to him. “He has been very helpful. His advise is very valuable to me. He has already proved he is a legend and I was very excited to be playing with him,” said Tahir. However, he did not enjoy his net session with the former captain as he dismissed him for a couple of maximums.

“I spoke to him in the nets. I didn’t enjoy it then because he hit me for a couple of sixes,” he added.
