Mahmudullah happy to retain captaincy of Khulna Titans

Captain of Khulna Titans in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and national superstar, Mahmudullah, seemed elated to take up captaincy yet again for his team in this edition of the T20 league. The quintessential middle order batsman was also excited to work with the likes of Mahela Jayawardena in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

The league is all set to commence on the 4th of November at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. The Titans also retained Sri Lankan maestro Mahela Jayawardena as the head coach for two years. The Lankan great has also coached the Mumbai Indians in the recent edition of the IPL successfully as the Rohit Sharma-led side went on to win the title for the third time in IPL history.

Except for Junaid Khan, the entire foreign contingent is new to the side. The owners’ bid for the services of the likes of Kevon Cooper, Andre Fletcher, Ben Laughlin, Nicholas Pooran, Lendl Simmons and Riki Wessels Benny Howell. The renowned local Bangladeshi stars include Mahmudullah himself, Alok Kapali, Shafiul Islam, and Shuvagata Hom.

“I’m happy to stay with Khulna Titans and hope we will play better than before. I’m excited to work with Jayawardene. It’s a great opportunity for me to learn from him (Jayawardene) as much as I can” commented Mahmudullah according to NTV Bangladesh. Jayawardena too seemed excited to work in Bangladesh yet again.

“Bangladesh is like my home, I played first here in 1914. Now appearing as a coach of a BPL T20 team, we have signed some good cricketers, we are exciting to face the challenges. It is not only a job for me but also an opportunity to contribute to the game of cricket. We want to enjoy the game, no matter we win or loss” concluded the coach of the Khulna Titans and Mumbai Indians, Mahela Jayawardena
