In recent times, Manoj Tiwary has been in quite a fantastic form. In fact, having slammed a few glorious knocks in first-class as well as List-A cricket, the 34-year old was hoping to be in the reckoning for a much higher level of cricket. However, heartache would prevail once again with limited opportunities in the IPL and his subsequent leaving out of the Duleep Trophy and India ‘A’ side, something that prompted him to take to Twitter to pose a rather interesting query to statsman Mohandas Menon.

After being overlooked for selection in the Duleep Trophy, Tiwary had requested Menon to provide him with players who have reached a century average in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Deodhar Trophy and still was overlooked or the Duleep Trophy. However, he has quashed the rumors of taking a jibe at the selectors for the same statement that it was his curiosity that led to the same.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Timesnow.com, Tiwary said, “First of all, let me clarify that I haven’t tweeted anything regarding the team selection. I just asked the statistician regarding a stat which I was curious to know. That’s it. But it’s true that I haven’t heard anything from the selectors. ”

‘Did not play much of the IPL despite an impressive season’

Tiwary did not get to play for the Rising Pune Supergiant while stating that he was quite surprised with the stat as well. “I didn’t get many opportunities to play in this season of IPL whereas I had an outstanding season last year, where our team reached finals.”

“Yes, I was surprised but I knew I had a great season. An average of 100 plus in both Deodhar and Vijay Hazare Trophy is very rare to have.”

Speaking about his undergoing of the yo-yo test, Tiwary said, “Not yet, but I will undergo it when the test will happen in Bengal camp.”
