Recently, the BCCI announced teams for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. Faiz Fazal, Abhinav Mukund, and Parthiv Patel were appointed as the captains for their respective teams.  However, there was a notable absence from the squads. Manoj Tiwary was totally ignored despite having a great domestic season last time around. He wasn’t even picked for the quadrangular series, neither of India A nor for India B.

The 32-year-old showed tremendous form last season. Despite all that, his absence was worth questioning. Frustrated with his omission, Tiwary took to social media platform Twitter in order to highlight his performance in a humorous way. He tagged well-known statistician Mohandas Menon and asked his query regarding a stat.

In his tweet, he wrote, “Hi @mohanstatsman G. Can u help me with one stat which I’m eager to know for my knowledge. Can I ask ??”

Further, he cleverly put forward his statement by asking about the number of batsmen with an average of 100 plus in both Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Deodhar Trophy, a feat achieved by him this year. “How many batsmen are there in the history of Indian cricket who has an average of 100 plus in the Vijay Hazare and Deodhar trophy both in the same year ??” he asked.

Known for digging stats, Mohandas after some persistence tweeted out the numbers. He brought up a stat which displayed the highest batting average recorded in a List A domestic season. Manoj Tiwary stood on top of the list with a scintillating average of 126.75. The list also included Mithun Manhas, Ishank Jaggi, and Vinod Kambli.

Here’s what the statistician tweeted, “Could not locate any other instance. But this could interest u..
