Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has promised one and all that the Bangladeshi cricket team would indeed give a good account of themselves on their upcoming tour of New Zealand. Mortaza’s men have never toured New Zealand previously and will be looking to make an impact in order to be a part of future tours and a part of the ICC’s plans for playing more Test cricket.

Recently, Bangladesh impressed with some impressive performances in the Test series against England where they came from behind to square the series 1-1. The win in the second Test match at Dhaka was Bangladesh’s first win against the Brits in their entire Test playing history, something that went down in the history books as a first.

Speaking about the same, Mashrafe Mortaza revealed that the conditions were indeed different from the ones that prevailed in Bangladesh and they would have to play out for their skins to get a positive result in the place.

“Everyone knows the conditions in New Zealand, even a team like Australia have struggled over there in recent past. Also these days New Zealand have been doing really well. They ran India close in the recent ODI series. So, the job will be tough, but not impossible. We have to play with a lot of courage. In New Zealand adjusting to the windy conditions is very essential. The wind plays a crucial role over there,” Mortaza said in an exclusive chat with Mohammad Jan-e Alam, a correspondent of Dhaka-based daily, Ittefaq.

However, before leaving for New Zealand, the Bangladeshi cricketers will make a quick stopover at Sydney to play the Sydney Thunder before traveling to New Zealand for the series.

“For us, the Sydney camp will be very important. Ahead of the 2015 World Cup, we had a 15-day camp over there and it was very fruitful for us [Bangladesh reached quarterfinal for the first time]. Though I cannot guaranty similar result and also the conditions of Australia and New Zealand are a bit different, but yes, this camp will provide us the opportunity to prepare yourself,” he added.
