The 50 overs skipper of Team Bangladesh, Mashrafe Mortaza, has been doing a decent job at the helm of ODI cricket for his side. In the recent times, the team surged to their best ever ICC ODI rankings when they had escalated up to the sixth spot. The Bangladeshi team managed to reached the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy this year and had a dream run in the lead up to that game.
Needless to cite, the team and the players have evolved a great deal. However, amidst all this, there have always been a rumor of a tussle or an internal rift between Mashrafe Mortaza and the team head coach Chandika Hathurusingha. As per the recent quotes in bdcrictime.com, Mortaza has brought an end to all such speculations. He noted that clashes are bound to happen when two individuals work together for a long time.
“I think we understand each other very well. When you work for a long time, it is obvious that speculations will come up at some point or the other and it was no different in our case as well. It is more common in our society. When something goes wrong, we often hear that they are not having good understanding,” said Mashrafe Mortaza.
“Anyone can make that statement because it is very easy to comment in that manner. It is hard to stop them because they don’t know the actual truth. When you are walking with someone for a long time, certainly there will be ups and downs,” he added further.
Mutual Understanding
He further noted that the two have very good understanding. Both individuals are not shy of putting forth their suggestions and ideas. Also, if one of them fails, there is no blame game that comes into the picture. He expressed his disappointment at the media reports about his rift with the coach.
“If you go by the result[s], I don’t think we need to talk about it. There were some decisions when I wanted to do something in one way and he approved. Even if it misfired, he did not utter anything. There were times when he said ‘do it in this manner’ and I felt ‘ok let’s try it’. Whether it clicked or not, we just did not blame each other and probably that is the reason we were so successful. So it is not wise to create a so called rift between us,” conceded Mortaza.
