Matt Renshaw has a contrasting view on Ravi Ashwin and Adil Rashid's much-discussed deliveries
Renshaw took to Twitter and made the comparison.
Ravi Ashwin is currently having a tremendous outing in Indiaâs ongoing Test match against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham. He finished with four wickets in the first innings of the match. He bamboozled Alastair Cook to draw first blood for the visiting team. Thereafter, he came back to pick up three vital wickets at a time when the English batters threatened to take the match away.
Virat Kohliâs 22nd Test century lifted India to 274 runs after which Ashwin was entrusted with the new cherry. The Tamil Nadu-bowler didnât disappoint and got rid of Cook in his second over. The manner of dismissal was similar to the one in the first instance as the Englishman was castled. The tweaker dished out a loopy off-break from over the wicket, near the eyeline of the experienced batsman.
Renshaw rates Ashwinâs delivery higher
Cook came on to the front foot, but the leather missed the outside edge of the willow to cannon into the off-stump. Cook strained for 14 deliveries, however, couldnât open his account. In the meantime, Matt Renshaw, the Australian cricketer, believes that Ashwinâs delivery in the second innings was better than that of Adil Rashidâs to Virat Kohli in the third ODI at Headingley in Leeds.
In the deciding match, Kohli scored 71 runs and looked ominous for the English team. Rashid, against the run of play, churned out a leg-break that beat the outside edge of the bat to crash into the stumps. Following the dismissal, Kohli stood at the pitch in utter bewilderment. It was also the second instance when Virat perished to the wily tweaker from Yorkshire in the ODI series.
Renshaw took to Twitter and made a comparison between the two deliveries. He wrote, âMight be seen as controversial but think Cookâs dismissal in the second innings was a better ball than Kohli got against Rashid in the ODI #EngvIndâ
