When India and Australia prepare for a showdown in cricket, the mercury hardly stops heading north. Even though not as explosive as in the past, the recent Test series between the two old rivals Down Under saw quite a few instances of verbal battles behind smiles. One example of the many duels was Australian Test captain Tim Paine’s jibe at his Indian counterpart Rishabh Pant to baby-sit his kids after the latter failed to find a place in the ODI series that followed.

Things, however, went off smoothly as Pant was seen holding Paine’s kids on a formal get-together of the two teams at the residence of the Australian Prime Minister in Sydney. That episode has surfaced again ahead of Australia’s upcoming tour of India featuring two T20Is and five ODIs. This time, it is two former cricketers from both the sides who are under focus.

A television commercial has come up showing former India opener Virender Sehwag with a bunch of babies and holding two of them and all the kids are wearing the Australian jersey. The commercial was clearly a dig at the Australian team visiting India for the reciprocating series starting February 24 as Sehwag was heard saying in it: “When we went to Australia, they asked us whether we will do babysitting? We told all of them to come. We surely will.”

Australia are reigning world champions, Hayden reminds

The commercial did not go well down with former Australia opener Matthew Hayden who even took to Twitter and “warned” him against taking Australia as a joke. The former dashing opener, who was a member of a number of World Cup-winning squads that Australia produced, also reminded Sehwag that the Kangaroos are currently the world champions and “babysitting” the WC trophy. Australia won their fifth title in the 2015 edition though it was their first at home.

Here is Hayden’s tweet

The Australian squads for the T20Is and ODIs will be led by Aaron Finch while the hosts are yet to announce their squads.
