Matthew Wade was one of the many changes rung in by the Australian management for the final Test at Adelaide. The final Test at the Adelaide Oval is one that will be played with the pink ball and under lights something that has seen a large turnout for in recent times. However, one player with somewhat of a predicament in recent times has been Matthew Wade.

The 29-year old is clearly one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen in the country. With Peter Nevill dropped from the side, it seems quite clear that Wade will have massive shoes to fill apart from the fact that he has an obvious predicament that being his color blindness. In recent times, the sighting of the pink ball has been something that has been anything but easy given the fact that it is one of the novel steps and procedures being used in Test cricket.

However, the 29-year old wicketkeeper-batsman is confident that he would have little or no problem in sighting the pink ball, something that he has attributed to his better wicketkeeping skills, to say the least.

“I think I’ve improved, obviously,” Wade said on Monday (November 21). “I wasn’t playing well enough at the time to be picked as a wicketkeeper in Test cricket and now I have been picked as a Test wicketkeeper,” he said. “There’s always a lot of talk about keeping and batting and the skill set, but I’ll just come and do my best and contribute the best I can for the team. It’s not about me.”

Wade also went on to add that it was simply something that one had to get used to. “You’ve just got to get used to it. I think it’s trying to get it out of your mind,” he said. “I can see the color of the ball, I pick it up. It’s just at times it takes a little bit longer to work out the depth of where it’s coming.

“I’ve got more used to it I suppose. The more you play, you get more used to it,” he added. “The ball is getting better year in, year out. It’ll be interesting to see what it does,” he said.
