There are quite a few players who are waiting for their chances to get into the Indian team. The level of game in India has increased so far that even a couple of failures can result in the player being axed from the playing XI. So a player has to grab whatever opportunity that he gets to justify his selection into the team.
It is virtually impossible to talk about the domestic cricket in India without mentioning the name of Mayank Agarwal. Mayank has been in the form of his life over the past two years. Barring the IPL 2018, he has been scoring runs at an impressive average for his state team.
In the 2017-18 Ranji Season, he simply went berserk, plundering over a 1000 runs to top the run charts. However, opportunities have eluded him as he has failed to break into the national team for quite a while now.
The wait-continues
The Karnataka prodigy has finally received a call-up for the Test series against Windies. It was high time to reward him for all the good work that he has done in the past year. Mayank took to Twitter to post a picture where he can be seen carrying his equipments for the practice session. Thousands of fans across the country wished him luck for his debut series at the highest level.

Though the opener has made it to the 15-man squad, Mayank has been left out for the first test in Rajkot as the management has already shortlisted 12 players for Thursday’s game. It means that Mayank has to wait a little longer to play his first match for India. His exclusion has all but confirmed that Prithvi Shaw will bat alongside KL Rahul in the first match. This series is a good opportunity for the players to book their spots for India’s tour of Australia.
