Mayanti Langer to be felicitated with Young Achiever's Award

Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Deep Dasgupta will be felicitated with an honor as well.

Renowned television personality Mayanti Langer is set to receive the Young Achiever’s Award at the 15th Distinguished Alumni Award 2017 for Excellence in Media organized by  Old Students Association (OSA), Delhi. The event is scheduled to be hosted in a city hotel tomorrow. Along with Mayanti Langer, Deep Dasgupta will also be awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award for Excellence in Sports.

Mayanti Langer, who came into the reckoning after hosting the inaugural edition of the rebel Indian Cricket League, went on to host four different world cups in three different sport. Her notable works include anchoring in ESPN’s 2010 Fifa World Cup, 2010’s Commonwealth Games,  2010 World Cup, 2014 Indian Super League and 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. Mayanti Langer is presently the face of Star Sports network and is married Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder, Stuart Binny.

Deep Dasgupta, who has represented the Indian team in 8 Tests and 5 ODIs during the Ganguly era of Indian cricket, will be receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award for Excellence in Sports. During the course of his brief career in international cricket, Deep Dasgupta went on to score a Test hundred along with two half centuries.

Post his retirement, he found a successful career as an analyst and Hindi commentary. The wicketkeeper-batsman, interestingly, had a brief stint with the rebel Indian Cricket League while playing for Kolkata Tigers, much like Mayanti Langer. Dasgupta is currently tied up with Star Sports network as well along with Mayanti.

The other notable member to be awarded the prestigious accolade are Rakesh Kacker, IAS, Director, India Habitat Centre for Excellence in Civil & Public Service; Veena Jain, Director General, DD News for Excellence in Media;  Justice Navin Sinha, Judge Supreme Court, for Excellence in Law and Pankaj Saran, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation for Excellence in Foreign Service.

Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Planning and Shri Ashok Lavasa, Finance Secretary, Government of India will illuminate the event with their gracious presence in the award ceremony as chief guests.
