He has made an impressive start to his domestic cricket career by picking up 26 wickets in just six matches. At 16, he has already earned his maiden national call and has traveled with the squad to Australia for a two-Test series starting November 21. Naseem Shah had a big blow as his mother passed out on Monday night as he was playing for Pakistan against Australia ‘A’ in a three-day side game in Perth.

But he refused to return to his country and stayed back. Naseem did not bat or bowl in the first innings of the game but took the wicket of opener Marcus Harris in the second to end up with the figures of 1 for 21 in eight overs. Naseem impressed with his bowling in the side game and as per a tweet by cricket.com.au, the teenager revealed that he has been told that his bowling action resembles that of former New Zealand fast bowler Shane Bond.

It may be mentioned here that in July this year, Naseem had said that he idolizes the former Kiwi spearhead. He had also spoken about the similarity between the actions of him and Bond on that occasion as well before saying that it is his dream for him to play for Pakistan in all three formats.

Cricket.com.au also used two videos juxtaposed to show the similarity between the two pacemen’s bowling. While Bond was shown bowling to former Australia captain Ricky Ponting in a limited-over game as the players wore colored dresses, Naseem was seen bowling with the red ball in Perth, extracting some serious bounce.

Here’s the video

Shane Bond played 18 Tests, 82 ODIs and 20 T20Is between 2001 and 2010 and took a total of 259 international wickets.

Pakistan pacers rattle Australia ‘A’

Pakistan pacers came up with a splendid performance in the three-day game as they gave the home team some tough time. After having scored 428 in their first innings, Pakistan had left Australia ‘A’ reeling at 57 for 9 before the last-wicket partnership added 65 runs to take the team score to 122. Veteran pacer Imran Khan took 5 for 32 while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Iftikhar Ahmed took two wickets each. The first Test of the series starts from the 21st of November.
