Having played a match-winning cameo in the preceding warm-up game against England, Rishabh Pant was rested was for the practice fixture against Australia. However, the southpaw was spotted polishing his skills outside the boundary rope. While India and Australia were battling it out in Dubai, Pant was improving his glovework outside the playing area. Notably, he was assisted by none other than MS Dhoni, who has been named India’s mentor for the T20 World Cup 2021.

With Dhoni himself being one of the finest wicketkeepers ever, Pant couldn’t have asked for a better mentor. Also, it’s a known fact that the southpaw idolizes the former Indian captain. Owing to the same, the video went viral in no time as fans were delighted to see Dhoni grooming the young wicketkeeper-batter.

MS Dhoni grooming his successor Rishabh Pant

Having made his international debut in 2017, Pant has certainly made a name for himself in his brief but impressive career. The dasher backs his instincts and doesn’t mind playing big shots regardless of the formats and conditions. Although his approach also earned him a lot of criticism, the left-handed batter has also played several match-winning knocks with this method.

The 24-year-old has also become a clinical wicketkeeper. Owing to all these factors, many even believe Pant can fill the big boots of MS Dhoni. It’s pretty evident that the former Indian captain also wants Pant to thrive.

Speaking of the training drill, Dhoni was seen throwing balls underarm, while Pant had to collect it with one stump in front of him. This practice is being done in order to help Pant sharpen his skills against spinners in the slow and turning tracks in UAE.

Coming to the practice clash, Australia opted to bat after winning the toss at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. The Aussie top-order suffered a terrible collapse with David Warner, Aaron Finch, and Mitchell Marsh perishing with just 11 runs on the board. However, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis chipped in with handy cameos as Australia posted 152/5.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitterati reacted to MS Dhoni training Rishabh Pant:-
