Former England captain Michael Vaughan released a series of tweets a few hours back commemorating India’s win over England in the first ODI in Pune. However, the series of tweets from the former England skipper was directed at one individual Virat Kohli.

Apart from the fact that the latter ensured that the Indians went ahead and claimed a win, it was the 28-year old’s persistence with the bat that ensured that the hosts avoided a collapse and securing a win. The win also came with the help of Kedar Jadhav who went ahead and also helped himself to a century, only his second in international cricket.

What was impressive about Jadhav was the fact that he was fighting a terrible cramp as well. However, this did not stop him from clearing the boundaries as well and hit the ball 20 rows back. This also came in front of his home supporters who also included his parents as well.

Michael Vaughan, who hung his boots following the 2007 World Cup in West Indies went ahead and said that he was pleased by the way the England batsmen played. He also went on to add that there was always something one could do when the opposition was batting.

“There is always something you can do even when he’s (Kohli is) in and at times the plans weren’t too far from working,” he said. “There was a ball that just went over (Alex) Halesy’s head… on another day that goes to hand, they’re five down and we’re into them. But he’s a fantastic player and he’s proved that over a long period of time.”
