Cheteshwar Pujara has been the difference in the ongoing Test series between India and Australia. India’s number three has smashed three centuries with utter resilience and has shown amazing character to guts it out in the middle. Even in the final Test being played in Sydney, he pummeled 193 runs in the first innings which helped the visitors post a monumental total on the board. His run-scoring spree has left the former England captain Michael Vaughan overjoyed.

Australia is not an easy country to score runs at all and Vaughan acknowledged the same in his tweet for India’s second wall after Rahul Dravid. He lauded Pujara’s grit and determination to score runs and credited him for the way he has batted so far in this series. Pujara has amassed a massive 521 runs in seven innings so far at an impeccable average of 74.43 with the second best being Rishabh Pant with 350 runs to his name.

This proves that Cheteshwar Pujara has been class apart with the willow and is one of the main reasons why India is on the cusp of a historic series win. “Well done @cheteshwar1 .. Not easy getting 3 Tons in a series in Aussie !!!!! #Steve,” Vaughan wrote in his tweet for Pujara.

Pujara reminds Vaughan of his feat

Thanking Michael Vaughan for his praise, Cheteshwar Pujara took time out to remind the England cricketer that he had achieved the same feat down under during his playing days. Vaughan had slammed three centuries during the 2002/03 Ashes series amassing 633 runs in 10 innings at an average of 63.30. However, unfortunately, England had lost the series by 4-1 and even the Test which they managed to win was the final game of the series.

Pujara’s kind response is being loved all over the social media as despite winning the games single-handedly, he continues to stay humble as he has been throughout his career.
