Afghanistan mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has made a name for himself in the last few years by bamboozling the best batters in the business with his right-arm off break, not just in international cricket but also during franchise cricket tournaments. The spin sensation would be eager to make the ball do the talking in 2022 as well and lately, he has once again decided to remain with his old county team.

It has been officially confirmed that Mujeeb has decided to re-sign with one of the prestigious English county cricket clubs Middlesex for T20 Blast 2022. Thus, it will mark his return to the London-based club for a fourth straight year. The 20-year-old has been associated with Middlesex since 2019. The Afghan sensation is currently ranked seventh in ICC T20I Bowlers rankings and this stint could possibly do a world of good for him to make progress in the shortest format.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman re-signs for Middlesex for 2022 season

As Mujeeb has re-signed with Middlesex for the 2022 edition of Vitality T20 Blast, the youngster is expected to play the entire season including the group stages as well as the knockouts provided the London club reaches that far. Middlesex had last made the knockouts in the 2019 season. The county club has not been able to make the knockout stages consistently with only a couple of quarterfinal appearances ever since their Twenty20 Cup triumph way back in 2008.

“I am very pleased to be returning to Middlesex, as the club is like family to me. I’m very happy there and hopefully, we can do well this season”, said Mujeeb Ur Rahman in a statement issued by Middlesex Cricket.

Meanwhile, the star spinner has featured in four IPL seasons so far. He had represented the 2014 finalists Punjab from 2018 to 2020 before being roped in by the 2016-winners Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2021 edition. Nonetheless, he could only make a solitary appearance picking up two wickets as the former champions finished as the wooden spooners with just three wins from 14 matches.

The mystery spinner has been released by the Orange Army and now it would be interesting to see whether he will once again be picked by SRH or join some other franchise in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
