Former Australian cricketer and Chennai Super Kings player, Mike Hussey, might get associated to his IPL team yet again. As per the recent reports, Hussey is in line to be offered the coaching responsibility of the team in some capacity for the 2018 edition of the IPL. The Chennai Super Kings are all set to make a comeback to the IPL roster after having served their two year suspension period.

The team management has already expressed their desire to retain the core of the team for the upcoming seasons. Mike Hussey, who has played for the men in yellow for as many as seven seasons, is likely to be roped in as a part of the support staff. As per the quotes in Times of India, George John, the Director of CSK, the management has been in talks with Hussey about the same.

“We have been in talks with Mike Hussey. It will be great if things work out since he has played for us and possesses a great cricketing brain. We have always looked to have continuity and Fleming has been a key member of our side since the first season. Not just support staff, we would like to get back all players who played for CSK,” quoted John.

On CSK’s fan base

Much like the franchise, the players are also very excited about the return of CSK. Their skipper, MS Dhoni, had welcomed the team back to the tournament with an update on the social media. Talking about the same, John noted that it was a very sweet gesture from Dhoni to have done that. He further elaborated that the team has immense popularity and enjoys a huge fan base.

“It was an extremely sweet gesture on his part and it shows the affection he has for the franchise. CSK is in the hearts of the people. Even though CSK wasn’t part (of the IPL) for the last two seasons, its brand value has stayed intact. We have always been in touch with our fans as they are at the centre of everything we do. We have gone on to sponsor school tournaments and other competitions, and the responses have always been good,” John remarked.

Technology partners of CSK

Meanwhile, in other developments of the franchise, the CSK team has partnered with Tekplay Systems as their new technology partner. Prabhuram Ramanathan, the Executive Director of Tekplay, explained the role of their company as he quoted, “CSK’s fans are spread across various digital platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, and the idea is to engage with them throughout the year. We aim to bring all the CSK fans under one mobile application (app). We expect to launch the app in the next 100-150 days.”
