Former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson has been hitting the straps right yet again. His heroics in the finals of the Big Bash League saw the Perth Scorchers win the sixth edition of the tournament. Needless to say, the questions about Johnson making a comeback started floating on the media. However, much to the disappointment of his fans, the 35-year-old left-arm pacer has ruled out the possibility of an international comeback. It was after winning the finals of the BBL that the question was thrown at him yet again.

He was asked if would like to turn up for the home T20I series against Sri Lanka next month. The question only seemed valid as most of the senior Australian bowlers would be on the India tour when the Sri Lanka tour would be on. The very amusing scheduling sees the Sri Lanka series end on February 22 and the Australia tour to India commence on February 23. In any case, Mitchell Johnson appeared firm in his answer as he said that the option is tempting. But, he believes that playing international cricket is over for him.

“You always think about those kind of things (coming out of retirement). But to be honest playing this Big Bash, I came out here, really enjoyed it, had fun and I don’t think I’ll play international cricket again. That’s me done and dusted. I enjoyed it while I played but I’m just enjoying myself playing some of this T20 stuff,” quoted Mitchell Johnson.

Interestingly, earlier when Johnson had scripted history in the semi finals against the Melbourne Stars, he had answered the same question back then. Johnson had bowled the most economical spell in the history of BBL with figures of 4-2-3-3. When asked about an international comeback then, Mitchell Johnson had answered, “When that’s getting thrown in your face it’s like, ‘It would be nice to play’ but I don’t think I want to play (again for Australia), to be honest. I don’t think it would be as enjoyable for me.”
