Mitchell Marsh is viewed by many as one of the Australian noblemen of sorts after opting away from the Indian Premier League to play English County Cricket. He joined the likes of Josh Hazlewood who also withdrew from the IPL auction to focus on international cricket. However, despite that, the youngest of the Marsh family eventually found himself on the receiving end of an ankle injury, something that is expected to sideline him for a few months at the very least.

However, despite that, the 25-year old remains upbeat about his prospects of playing for the Aussies when they play Pakistan in the months of September and October. Marsh reportedly injured his ankle when he was in Melbourne the previous week and will be out of action for quite a while. This will also see him miss the county championships in England.

“(I’m going to) keep my feet up for a couple of weeks then get stuck into pre-season with Western Australia. Hopefully, I can try and get over to play for Surrey at some stage, but if not be ready for Test matches in September.”

The form of his life

Marsh was in stupendous form in the Ashes with the bat, something that did indeed surprise many. He smashed two back to back centuries, something that saw him not only rising up the rankings but also ensured that he cemented his place in the Australia Test side. Marsh was expected to get fit before the start of the Australian domestic summer, but the all-rounder now says he hopes to be fit in time for a Test series against Pakistan in the UAE.

The last time an Australian side toured the UAE, they were whitewashed 3-0 in the Test series. However, this time around, they will be hoping for a change in their fortunes.
