After certain injury woes in the visitor’s camp, England have finally got a good news coming on their way, as all-rounder Moeen Ali has been declared fit to play the final practice match against Cricket Australia XI. England coach Trevor Bayliss said that the all-rounder is doing fine and that he has been bowling and batting at the nets. Moeen will give the visitors the much-needed balance in the line-up.

The 30-year-old was out of action with a side strain, and therefore he missed out on both the practice games. With Ben Stokes yet to get a green signal from the authorities, the Three Lions will bank on their current crop of players to start well in Brisbane, the venue for the 1st Test match against Australia.

Moeen set to play the 1st Test

The 54-year-old coach said that they will make sure that Moeen stays in the thick of things and plays the entire series. “We will make sure he is right for selection for that first Test,” said Bayliss. “He should be right in seven to 10 days. He’s fairly confident he’ll be fit for Brisbane. He has a boot on but that’s more precautionary and he has been walking round without it and feels fine. Fingers crossed it’s right.”

He was also asked b the reporters on why Garton got the look-in ahead of Middlesex’s Tom Helm and Mark Wood, Bayliss said: “Because he’s fit. Wood and Helm were our first two. They are coming out with the Lions but aren’t quite up to game speed.”

“They have only been bowling in the nets for a week or two so we were a bit concerned about them in a four-day game. Liam Plunkett missed the last game in the Bangladesh Premier League with a slight hamstring strain so it’s down to Garton.” he added.
