The ongoing County Championship 2022 has so far witnessed many remarkable performances, be it Cheteshwar Pujara’s blistering batting performance or Pakistan pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi’s incredible bowling performance. Apart from that, there was also a memorable moment as far as fielding is concerned when a veteran Luke Fletcher’s breathtaking run-out made senior England pacer Stuart Broad celebrate in joy.

Lately, another player found a special mention in this list and he happens to be Shaheen Afridi’s Pakistan teammate Mohammad Abbas. It is to be noted that Abbas did not bowl a dream delivery but rather it was a comedy of errors from the batter that earned him a wicket as the latter tried to defend the stumps during a match between Somerset and Hampshire.

Mohammad Abbas dismisses Somerset skipper Tom Abell in a hilarious manner

This happened in the 25th over of Somerset’s innings. On the fourth delivery of that over, Abbas bowled a length ball just outside the off-stump which was well defended by Tom Abell. Unfortunately for him, the ball rolled back after he played a defensive shot and the batter tried his level best to avoid it from making contact with the stumps. However, that was not to be as he unknowingly ended up kicking the ball back to the stumps and the bails were dislodged.

Mohammad Abbas might have gotten a lucky wicket but, a gutted Abell had no choice other than taking a long walk back to the pavilion scoring six runs from 25 deliveries. The video of this hilarious dismissal was posted by a fan on Twitter.

After the captain’s dismissal, Somerset could not show much intent as they lost wickets at regular intervals despite winning the toss and deciding to have a bat first. They were bowled out for 211 before the end of the first day’s play. Abbas, on the other hand, took 2/21 in his 17 overs. Hampshire ended the day on 29 without losing a wicket.
