Mohammad Amir faces visa trouble; Pakistan management in disarray

Pakistan is scheduled to play a one-off Test match against Ireland in Dublin followed by a couple of Tests against England. The team had their flight to the United Kingdom (UK) today. Meanwhile, one of their experienced members has to miss the flight and stay back. The visa of the Pakistani pace spearhead Mohammad Amir hasn’t been cleared owing to which he had to couldn’t travel with the team.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is adamant that the issue will be resolved within this week. The speedster is expected to fly to London for the same, but the reasons for the same hasn’t been cleared yet. Recently, sources from the PCB has updated on the same and sounded confident on the clearance of Amir’s visa.

“We are optimistic”- PCB official

“He [Amir] didn’t travel with the team as we are still awaiting for his visa. His visa status is still pending but we are optimistic that he is mostly likely to get the visa by Wednesday before he starts his journey same day” the spokesperson was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.

Mohammed Amir has been related to the country ever since the infamous spot-fixing scandal which saw him along with Mohammed Asif and Salman Butt being handed suspensions. In 2015, the International Cricket Council (ICC) lifted the ban and Amir made his international comeback against India in the 2016 Asia Cup in Bangladesh.

Thereafter he toured England in 2016 and also played at the Lords Cricket Ground where his cricketing career turned on its head. In the same year, he married a British citizen of Pakistani origin and has toured the country on a regular basis. He has also plied his trade in 2017 for Essex in the English county circuit. In the same year, he visited the nation for the birth of his first child in London as well as for the Champions Trophy.
