Former Bangladesh skipper Mohammad Ashraful is all set to make a comeback in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) 2018. The premier domestic competition will commence on January 9 this year. He recently got the permission from the board to participate in the competition after he completed his suspension period of 3 years in the domestic cricket.

Mohammad Ashraful, once touted as the best Bangladeshi cricketer, was banned from playing international and domestic cricket owing to his alleged involvements in match fixing. His international suspension period comes to an end on August 13, 2018.

Amidst this backdrop, Ashraful hopes to stage an international comeback by performing well in the BCL and other domestic competitions. As per the quotes in bdcrictime, Ashraful conceded that he hopes to perform in every opportunity that beckons henceforth.

“The consistency of playing in the national league and premier league will now be maintained as I can play in the BCL now. I have to play and perform everywhere if I ever want to enter into the national team once again,” quoted Mohammad Ashraful.

Ashraful will be playing for the East Zone in BCL 2018. Earlier in 2012, he had led the Walton Central Zone to BCL title win. Also, in the finals of the 2012 edition, he had bagged 4 wickets which included a hat-trick as well. Soon after the tournament, he lost his track and saw himself in the spot fixing controversies. It will be worth seeing how the youngest Test centurion of Bangladesh stages a comeback from this position.

‘Dream of playing for Bangladesh again’

Speaking on his personal aspirations at this stage of his career, Mohammad Ashraful conceded that he wishes to make a comeback in the national side. He is feeling confident about his game and hopes to stage an international comeback through consistent performances in the domestic circuit. The desire to play for Bangladesh is still pretty much persistent.

“I’m feeling really good. Actually things don’t go smoothly once there is a break. Premier League is also coming up after that. I’m dreaming of returning in the Bangladesh through performing well in domestic cricket,” Ashraful mentioned.
