Out of favor Pakistani bowler Mohammad Asif has recently made some bold remarks about his teammate Mohammad Amir. Asif noted that albeit Amir has managed to make a comeback to the national side, his bowling is not the same as it was almost half a decade ago. As per the quotes in brecorder.com, Asif hailed the way Amir made a comeback though.
He noted that Amir has been bowling well. The recently concluded assignments against Sri Lanka were the only exception. However, he went on to add that despite his good show, the other bowlers have not contributed much at the same time. And Amir has lost the charm to win the matches singlehandedly for the men in green.
“Amir has bowled well after his comeback with exception of the recent series in the UAE. Amir is not getting the support from the other end and he is unable to single-handedly win games for Pakistan,” quoted Mohammad Asif.
Not a mutual thought?
Meanwhile, Mohammad Amir, has different thoughts on Mohammad Asif though. Recently, Asif had bowled a magnificent spell of fast bowling in a domestic fixture. His sensational spell had seen him bag a seven wicket haul. Amir was quick to chirp in with his words of praise. He had noted that Asif is a class act. And bowling in tandem with him is absolute joy.
Incidentally, the two bowlers, Asif and Amir, had faced suspensions following their involvement in the spot fixing scandal in the year 2010. While Amir managed to stage a comeback after serving the suspension period, Asif is still trying his luck in the domestic circuit.
“As a pair when we bowled together, we were very dangerous for any side…. So there is no doubt whatsoever about his ability,” Amir had said regarding Asif.
