Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif was trolled on social media when he faced backlash for playing chess with his son. He was slammed by fellow Muslims because they claimed playing chess is considered a sin in Islam. They also requested Kaif never to repeat this offence of playing the game. Kaif didn’t take this lying down and came out slamming the trollers and also gave a befitting reply to the fundamentalists.

Mohammad Kaif  gave a reply on Twitter

Kaif gave a reply to the trollers with a post on Twitter. He said that sports are the best way to break barriers put forward by caste, creed. He also said that sports are beyond religion.

“When u are playing a sport, it’s one of the best ways to break barriers of caste, creed, religion. Wish everyone plays more. #SportsBeyondReligion,” said Kaif in a tweet.

Here is what Kaif tweeted:

Kaif made a very valid point and for that, he got support from fellow Muslims. Some Muslims echoed right handed batsman’s point and hit back on the trollers.

Even Muslim clerics like Imam Sajid Rashidi backed Kaif and said that there was nothing wrong in Kaif playing with his son. “People who are accusing him should look at themselves first. He was playing with his son. There is nothing wrong with it,” said Imam Sajid Rashidi, a Muslim cleric from Delhi, as reported by DNA.

Mufti M. Mukarram Ahmad, another fellow cleric also defended former Indian batsman and said those trolling Kaif must read the rules of Islam themselves.

Mohammad Kaif, not the first cricketer to be targeted

These incidents are becoming quite regular these days. A few weeks back Indian pacer Mohammed Shami was similarly targeted on social media. Shami had posted his daughter’s birthday pics but the fact that his wife was wearing sleeveless dress infuriated a section of a Muslim community.

Similarly, Irfan Pathan was trolled when he shared a picture with his wife, he was trolled because his wife had put nail polish.
