From the legends of the previous generation like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara or Jaques Kallis to the superstars of this generation like Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, MS Dhoni or David Warner, everyone’s quest to don their respective international jersey began in the backyards.

With the chairs turning into stumps and walls becoming the boundaries, everything about backyard cricket is so special that a true cricket fan will never be fed up of it. Hence, no matter how busy they are in their lives, these stars take out some time to smack and break few windows at their home.

Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif too was having fun with his nephews in Allahabad. He posted a video on Twitter where he was playing in his backyard with a tennis ball, accompanied by a “Gang of Nephews”, as he terms them.

Kaif neatly opened the face of the bat and guided the ball to point region and almost smashed the pots next to him. He even collided with the bowler whilst he was completing a single but there were smiles all over the place.

A talented cricketer who never propelled

He led the Indian side to a famous Under-19 world cup triumph in 1998, but Mohammad Kaif’s career didn’t propel the way he would’ve liked. Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif were a part of the same under-19 side and they entered the senior national side during the same time.

Kaif and Yuvraj provided India an everlasting memory when they stitched a crucial partnership against England in the Natwest series final in 2002. They both were a part of the side that competed in the 2003 ICC World Cup as well, but for some reasons, Yuvraj went a long way ahead and Kaif’s career lasted just half a decade.

Nonetheless, he has a lot of respect in the fraternity and is still remembered for his outstanding fielding skills. He was athletic, exuberant and one of the best when it came to throwing the ball.

The passion for the game doesn’t seem to diminish in the 36-year-old and watch this video to know why.
