26-year old Indian pacer Mohammad Shami has faced a rather unfortunate setback following the death of his father. Shami’s father had suffered a cardiac arrest and had also been taken to the Internal Care Unit of a hospital in the regional area. However, things did not improve in the morning as the unfortunate Mr. Shami departed early in the morning on Friday.

While this is certainly a setback for the 26-year old, Shami has been out of the Indian side since the third Test match against England. He is also highly regarded by the selectors as well as most pundits as the best fast bowler in India at the moment. Moreover, his natural ability to swing the ball both ways and pick wickets at regular intervals is certainly a bonus for any captain.

However, in recent times, Shami has been on the receiving end of a few timeless injuries. While this has seen him miss a lot of cricketing action, especially those in the overseas conditions, the fact of the matter is that these injuries have come back in the form of niggles as well. Niggles, that simply seem to ensure they cause a plight each time Shami has a good time with the ball in hand.

The Indian cricket team management has also been careful in the manner in which they have dealt with his injuries as well. The care has seen him be periodically rested from time to time away from the action with many pacers among the ranks stepping up in his place.

However, at the moment, the focus will well and truly be on the death of Shami’s father, something that will certainly come as a shock to both the family and the nation as a whole.
