Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja is considering the names of some former players for their inclusion in the board. Former Pakistan cricketers Moin Khan and Aaqib Javed are considered as the two strong alternatives for top positions in the PCB.

Aaqib Javed is the head coach of the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) while Moin Khan is currently associated with Quetta Gladiators. As per sources, the board has contacted both of them for top slots and they are likely to get some crucial responsibilities in the board.

Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis had resigned from their posts of coaches earlier. Recently, the PCB CEO Wasim Khan also stepped down from his post. He handed over his resignation to the PCB chairman Ramiz Raja and as per reports, he was not satisfied with the decision-making process of Raja. Wasim Khan’s tenure was supposed to be expired in February next year and the board had plans of offering him the extension.

“Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed Wasim Khan has tendered his resignation as Chief Executive. As is the process, the BoG will meet later today to consider the matter,” the PCB confirmed in a brief statement.

However, it was also been reported that the CEO’s role was placed under major scrutiny ever since the announcement of Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Many key names missed out from the squad and that did not go well with the cricketing fraternity and the on-lookers.

The chief selector Mohammad Wasim had named a 15-strong squad for the marquee event. The same team was supposed to play in the T20I series against New Zealand, which eventually got abandoned.

The PCB CEO opened up on it and asserted, “It has come to our notice that factually incorrect reports are circulating about the Pakistan national squad environment. The squad for the upcoming international assignments has been announced and our captain Babar Azam is fully behind the direction that is being taken,” said Khan in a release by the PCB.
