The Indian team culminated the bilateral series against Sri Lanka, after decimating the visitors across every format of the game. And the highlight of the series was former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s scintillating form. Ever since MS Dhoni relinquished his captaincy, debate arose over his retirement. However, the former Indian skipper managed to silence all his critics with his consistency and tenacity. And his recent performance in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka serves as a testament to what champion material Dhoni is made of.

Lauding Dhoni, former Indian stumper Kiran More also heaped praises for his sharp communication skills and quick connectivity with bowlers from behind the stumps stating him as the leader of the pack. More also feels the former skipper has been the perfect bridge for handling bowlers, mainly the youngsters.

Dhoni’s brilliant communication skills with bowlers and his quick thinking on feet are often caught in the stump mic leaving the viewers to remain in awe. The chirpy stumper doesn’t shy away from coaxing the bowlers when they don’t learn quickly from their mistakes, and the likes of Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja have found themselves on the receiving end of it.

Speaking about what a masterclass Dhoni is, Kiran More was quoted saying to Hindustan Times, “A wicketkeeper’s partnership with the bowlers is one of the most effective ones in cricket. You see Warne-Healy, Warne-Gilchrist. The wicketkeeper is often the leader of the pack as he knows what is happening on the pitch and can tell the bowlers and captain about things to do. Dhoni is very sharp and he connects quickly with the bowlers. You saw him taking that brilliant catch down the leg side.”

He added, “You see the keeper is like a captain. Dhoni is the best man to handle the bowlers, especially the youngsters. He speaks and you can hear him, it is so clear.”
