Mahendra Singh Dhoni has effortlessly been among the greatest skippers Indian cricket has ever produced. He was a reckless cricketer to start with but transformed himself into a calm and composed personality with the passage of time. An indefatigable servant of Indian cricket, MS Dhoni gave his team and his fans plenty of opportunities to rejoice. He also has received criticism throughout his career regarding his choice of players and at times, his style of batting.

However, they hardly were able to unnerve the former skipper. Rather, he kept scoring runs and contributed to several of India’s victories. Recently, the wicketkeeper-batsman launched his first global cricket academy in Dubai on Saturday. The academy has been jointly launched by Dubai-based Pacific Sports Club and Aarka Sports Club. Quite expectantly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni expressed his delight to the media after the launch.

“I am delighted to be a part of this venture and will contribute in every way possible to make it a success. It has been my dream to contribute to the game in every way possible. This is the first step in that direction. The enthusiasm of the trainees is what will drive this venture,” Dhoni said.

The academy is named MS Dhoni Cricket Academy (MSDCA) and will have coaches from India to train the budding cricketers. There’s no dearth of facilities in the newly launched academy. The academy has four turfs, three cement and three matted pitches, bowling machines, safety nets, lights for practice, an in-house shop for cricket equipment and video analysis.

A feather in the hat of Dhoni

As a skipper, he won several trophies for India that includes the ICC World T20 in 2007, ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011. He is 36 years old and is most certainly at the fag end of his illustrious career. Dhoni might not be the same player he used to be even a couple of years ago, but even at 36, he is still a force to reckon with at the international level.
