Returning after a ban of two years, Chennai Super Kings are once again back into their usual self in 2018. Known to be one of the most consistent sides of Indian Premier League (IPL), the new look CSK squad made way for harsh criticisms and endless trolling. However, the ‘Whistle Podu’ army have won four matches out of the five they have played so far and are comfortably sitting at the top of the table. One feature of the CSK team has been their ability to win close encounters, and Deepak Chahar feels MS Dhoni is the one who deserves credit.

The Rajasthani pacer Deepak Chahar impressed everyone with his exceptional spell in the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he conceded just 15 runs in 4 overs and took 3 wickets. It was a match that boiled down to the wire and once again, the Kings emerged victorious by a slim margin of just 4 runs.

Talking to the media after the close encounter, Chahar said “We take pride from these close finishes and feel better. Well, the reason why we keep winning such matches is we have MS Dhoni as captain. His advice during the huddles when Kane (Williamson) and Yusuf (Pathan) were batting well was just not to bowl to their strengths; to stick to a good line and length. And, importantly staying cool.”

“You can see from the attitude of the entire team on the field that we are like one family,” he further added, as quoted by Sportstarlive. Speaking about his match-winning performance, he commented “I enjoyed bowling on this wicket which had bounce and swing and, obviously, I am pleased with my performance.”

No serious concerns for SRH, feels Kane Williamson

Sunrisers Hyderabad went off to a great start by winning their first three matches, but their run has taken a bitter hit. Two consecutive losses now sees them placed in the fourth position in the points table, but their skipper Kane Williamson feels there is no need to worry.

“We are a very good bowling side and there is no serious concern. Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) had a stiff back and that was one of the reasons why he was given short spells. The start was not good, but, we have a very good partnership in the middle. It was obvious that CSK posted a very challenging total. Disappointed that having come close, we couldn’t cross the line,” the Kiwi said.
