Mahendra Singh Dhoni added another feather to his already illustrious cap during the third ODI between India and Australia. The veteran affected 100 stumpings in India colours during the match on Sunday. Team India is already leading the series by 2-0 and would like to seal the series in Indore. MS Dhoni made a telling contribution in both the games with the bat and in the field guiding the young spinners.

He has reinvented himself this year after a mediocre 2016 and has become a vital cog in the line-up for the Men in Blue. He has been playing exceedingly well bailing India out of the trouble more often than not often providing the finishing kicks as well. He is also seen guiding the skipper Virat Kohli to set the fields and affect the bowling changes. Dhoni is looking set to feature in the 2019 World Cup which will be held in England.

The man behind the stumps set another record during the 43rd over of the Australian innings at Holkar Stadium. Glenn Maxwell looked to hoick the leggie Yuzvendra Chahal out of the park and stepped out of the crease but the bowler cleverly bowled it a bit wide. He missed and Dhoni just doesn’t as his gloves disturbed the stumps again like lightning. By the virtue of the dismissal, he set the record of effecting 100 stumpings for India in ODIs. He has 103 of those against his name in his international career with 3 for the Asia XI side.

India in commanding position

After opting to bat first, Australia were bolstered by the century of Aaron Finch who returned to the side fit after an injury. Just when it looked like the visitors would rack up 350 on a flat deck, India made a stunning comeback by picking wickets at regular intervals. Australia could only score 293/6 after their 50 overs and could only score 77/5 in last 14 overs. In reply, India has got off to a great start courtesy their openers Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma. They have added 132 runs in 20 overs already as the hosts are looking the favourites to seal the deal in Indore.
