The former Indian captain MS Dhoni may not have featured in an International since their tumultuous World Cup exit at the hands of New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester but he continues to be in the news for one reason or the other.
Ever since that World Cup exit, the lead-up to every series involving India has been centered around Dhoni? Will he retire? Won’t he? This has been the question around every fan as well as pundits mind. Captain Virat Kohli lit up the rumors of a possible Dhoni retirement when he shared a throwback picture from one of their epic match-winning partnerships from the 2016 T20 World Cup in Mohali ahead of the teams’ announcement for the Twenty20 Internationals against the visiting South Africans back in September.
That of-course, as Kohli clarified in the end, was just him reminiscing about that epic match-winning knock he played against the Australians, and it had nothing to do with Dhoni’s impending retirement. Recently, when Sourav Ganguly became the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the former Indian captain had alluded that it was up to Dhoni to decide about his future.

However, despite the fact that chief selector MSK Prasad reiterated that they have moved on from Dhoni and were looking at other wicket-keeping options for next years T20 World Cup in Australia, reports had emerged that the gloveman is eyeing a comeback into the Indian set-up next January and has been practicing with the Jharkhand U23 side.
Apart from the usual cricketing stuff, Dhoni has been raking in headlines on social media as well. On the occasion of Diwali, Dhoni’s IPL franchise– Chennai Super Kings- shared a throwback video where he and Dwayne Bravo can be seen conquering another sport where the former decided to stun the West Indies all-rounder with a quick shot.
Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo share a great camaraderie, as is evident from the video. The former all-rounder has admitted in the past how Dhoni’s ability to define roles for every individual got the best out of him, in the initial stages of his IPL career.
