Mumbai Indians to felicitate Tendulkar, Harbhajan and Malinga in 10 years celebration

The Mumbai Indians is arguably one of the most celebrated outfits in the history of the Indian Premier League. The two-time champions have been tagged as the late bloomers of the team but what matters is the fact that they manage to make it to the playoffs on most occasions. They have some big names who have been associated with them across the different seasons of the tournament. A few of them have been the perennial members of the men in blue. Sachin Tendulkar has been associated with the franchise since the first edition of the tournament.

He was a part of the roster as a player till 2013 and then remained an icon player and mentor after that. Harbhajan Singh has been another such player who has played for the Mumbai Indians in all the previous nine editions of the tournament and has even led the side. Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga has been associated with the franchise for the past decade too, albeit having had injury issues in the recent past. Now, to mark their 10 years of successful togetherness, the franchise are organising a special function on April 10 in Mumbai.

The function will see the franchise felicitate the big trio of Tendulkar, Harbhajan and Malinga. They will be honored by the owners Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani at their residence. As per the reports in the Indian Express, several other big names like Anil Kumble, Ricky Ponting and Shaun Pollock have also been invited for the event. Even these players have been an integral part of the setup over the years.

Many Bollywood celebrities, some of the officials of the BCCI and the MCA have also been invited for the function. The celebrations will take place after Mumbai Indians play their first home match of IPL 2017 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Their fortress, the sea of blue at Wankhede Stadium, will see the key encounter. MI will be playing their first match of the season on April 6 this year against Rising Pune Supergiant.
