Mumbai T20 League Auction to take place today

The Mumbai T20 league is currently the most awaited cricket tournament in the metropolitan city. The inaugural season of the event will be played from March 11 to 21 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. As per reports in zeenews.india.com, the auction of the tournament will be staged today after the announcement of the owners. The organizers said that the auction will start from 2 pm onwards.

Earlier, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Probability Sports India Private Limited (PSIPL) have announced the owners of the six franchises. Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketer, inaugurated the league and is also the brand ambassador of the event. Arjun Tendulkar, Sachin’s son, was also slated to take part in the T20 tournament.

However, the left-arm seamer has ruled himself out owing to reasons of remodeling his action by April and is currently under the supervision of Atul Gaikwad, a biomechanics expert. Players like Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma might also feature in the auction. Sachin Tendulkar has earlier mentioned the league as an appropriate platform for budding cricketers in the city.

The six participating franchises

Previously, the league also suffered a body blow when one of the owners of the six franchises pulled out before the auction. Shree Naman Developers bagged the Mumbai North franchise for INR 6 crores. However, they shot an email to the MCA regarding their withdrawal from the league. Nevertheless, to the relief of the franchise, they somehow managed to find its replacement. After all the speculations and hassles, the management would be hoping for a smooth conduct of the event.
