Bangladesh bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman is reportedly on the road to recovery after injuring his ankle in the recently concluded IPL. Mustafizur, who was a massive part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, helped his side lift the trophy in this edition of the IPL. Mario Villavarayan, the fitness and mental conditioning coach of the Bangladesh side has stated that it would take up to a month for the 20-year old pacer to recover from his ankle and hamstring injuries he sustained in India.

“Ideal [time to be fully fit] would be one month,” Villavarayan said. “But we will see how he does this week and take it from there. As of today, there’s the marginal improvement. It was a long season for him, so we are working on him. We assessed him yesterday and he has improved, and we will assess him again next week and take it from there. He has responded well.”

Mustafizur has also missed five of the Royal One Day matches for his county side Sussex. The pacer has also missed out on several of the T20s in the ongoing NatWest T20 blast. Last month, Mustafizur had informed those close to him of the fatigue he was suffering after playing continuously in the IPL. This prompted Sussex to give him some time off from his contract, at least until June 10, as well as abandon ambitions for him also to play some Championship cricket during his stay.

At the moment, Sussex has acquired the services of all-rounder David Wiese in the current edition of the NatWest T20 blast. However, they will have to find yet another replacement when Wiese will head out to the Caribbean to play for the Barbados Tridents in the upcoming edition of the CPL.
