Mustafizur Rahman ruled out of ODI series against South Africa

The left-arm pacer of Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of the ongoing 3-match ODI series against South Africa. He is also under the risk of missing the T20I series which will follow the 50-over matches. This is a huge blow to the visiting team as they looked hapless in the absence of their lead bowler despite the presence of Mashrafe Mortaza. The Tigers have already lost the first match in Kimberley by 10 wickets and now face a must-win encounter in Paarl. South Africa swept Bangladesh in the two-match Test series ruthlessly and now are on their way to win the ODI series as well. Another clinical performance from them at Boland Park would see them win this series as well. The visitors have not at all challenged the hosts at home so far and are playing like minnows. Soon they should find a spark somewhere else serious questions might be raised over their ability to win overseas. Rahim not certain for second ODI The tour of South Africa is turning out to be a nightmare for Bangladesh as the list of injured players is increasing by the day. After the news of Mustafizur Rahman being ruled out of ODI series, the participation of the centurion from the first game Mushfiqur Rahim is uncertain as he had pulled his hamstring during the heroic knock. He was the only batsman who converted a promising start and he has to play if the Mortaza led side is expecting to win the next game. “Mushfiqur pulled his hamstring. We cannot say anything further. We will have to visit to Cape Town to know further about the nature of the injury,” the chief selector of Bangladesh Minhajul Abedin Nannu said. He also cleared that Mustafizur will take no further part in the ODI series. “So far we have observed, Mustafizur will have to be out of the team for the whole one day series,” he added. Tamim Iqbal who is suffering from thigh injury is expected to be fit for the next game which would be some respite for them.
