Twenty20 cricket is the most recent talked prospect among the millions of cricket lovers all around the world, largely due to the massive excitement and entertainment factor. The different T20 leagues contested in every country nowadays have played a huge role in the evolution and popularization of the shortest version of the game.

Both the bowlers and batsmen also have made certain adjustments in their technique to acclimatize well in the quick conditions of T20 cricket. Former Sri Lankan legendary cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan reckons that with the massive evolution of T20 cricket, bowling has become a bit difficult.

It was rather easier to bowl during our times: Muralitharan

Muralitharan, who holds a record tally of 800 Test wickets, along with scalping a massive 534 ODI wickets, is currently working with the Sunrisers Hyderabad as their bowling coach in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He believes that bowling was much easier during his playing days, in comparison to the present scenario. The former Lankan cricketer played 12 T20Is and 66 IPL games in which he picked up 13 and 63 wickets respectively.

“It was easier to bowl during our times. Now the game has evolved and it is not easy to bowl. We did not play too much T20s and in Tests, they didn’t hit as many sixes like they do today,” said Muralitharan during a recent event as quoted by firstpost.

Muttiah names the most important thing for Sri Lankan cricket

Sri Lankan cricket team has recorded a number of milestones and many charismatic and orthodox stroke makers from the nation have also left their mark in the sport. Sri Lanka reached the finals of 2011 World Cup and also won the 2014 edition World T20 in Bangladesh. During the event, Muralitharan also mentioned about the most important thing happened for the betterment of Sri Lankan cricket and for his IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“I would cherish my 1996 World Cup win as that was most important thing for Sri Lankan cricket. For the Sunrisers, it was when we won the IPL trophy in 2016,” added the former Lankan cricketer.
