After losing out in a mega ICC event in the form of the WTC Final against New Zealand, India would surely be eyeing T20 World Cup 2021 Trophy. Moving in the same line, former India wicketkeeper-batsman Saba Karim has picked his two favourites to clinch the upcoming T20 glory. Karim backs defending champions West Indies and India as the two prime contenders for the title.

Recently, BCCI announced that the upcoming edition of the 2021 WC will be jointly staged in Oman and the United Arab Emirates between 17 October-14 November. It has to be noted that defending champions West Indies have had the honour of lifting the T20 WC trophy twice in the past.

On the other hand, India are currently the no. 2 ranked side in the shortest format of the game. Karim believes that Virat Kohli and his men can have their hand on title due to a great mixture of experience and youth on their side. The former Indian also extended his support to the England team for grabbing the title.

“My No.1 team at this moment is West Indies and India is No.2. The West Indies team has plenty of match-winners, power-hitters who can hit sixes. India has both youth and experience, so they have a good balance,” said Karim while speaking to India News.

England have brought a different dimension to white-ball cricket: Saba Karim

“But one team about whom we need to necessarily talk about is England. They have brought a different dimension to white-ball cricket and their team is also looking balanced to me. So, they will definitely be strong contenders in the T20 World Cup,” Karim added.

In the same line of events, another former cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi added that one can’t keep Kane Williamson and his men out of contention, especially after their latest high-profile win. They also have a fine squad for the shortest format and would be keen to grab another ICC title. Sodhi also felt that it might India and New Zealand again in the finale of ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
