Nasir Hossain handed a demerit point for breaching BCB's Code

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017 got underway yesterday and there is already an instance of breach of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) Code of Conduct. Nasir Hossain the captain and Hasibul Hossain the manager of the Sylhet Sixers team that is playing their maiden season in the tournament have been warned for breaching Level 1 of the CoC. The incident happened in the first match against Dhaka Dynamites at the Sylhet International Stadium. On Saturday (November 4) Hossain was late at the toss by six minutes and the team manager couldn’t produce the team sheet to the match officials in the stipulated time. After the conclusion of the game, the BPL governing body took the matter seriously; didn’t let it go and made sure both the individuals were conveyed that they cannot get away with such conduct. In a statement, the BCB wrote, “Nasir and Hasibul were charged by on-field umpires Masudur Rahman Mukul and Riaz Uddin, third umpire Tanvir Ahmed and fourth umpire Aktaruzzaman for delaying the toss by six (06) minutes and for the failure to submit the team sheet properly.” Accept the sanction When they were told about the breach the captain and manager preferred not to challenge the match officials and thus the Match Referee Debabrata Paul didn’t call for an official hearing and passed his verdict on the issue. As a result, one demerit point has been added to Nasir and Hasibul’s record, if the number of demerits accrued goes up to 4 during the course of the tournament, the individuals stand to be suspended for a match. “In addition to the sanction imposed for the breach of Article 2.1.1, one (1) demerit point has been added to their disciplinary record. Pursuant to Article 7.5 of the Code, if an offending person reaches four (04) or more demerit points in the tournament, the points will then be converted into suspension points. Four (04) demerit points equate to a ban of one (01) match,” the release further stated.
