Navdeep Saini has had a great run for Team India over the last seventh months or. He came into the national side only after the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales, and has weaved his magic. He first donned the national colours in a T20I in Lauderhill during the tour of the West Indies. There he picked up wickets in his very first spell after getting hit in the first few deliveries.
In the last over of the same innings, he churned out a wicket-maiden and also dismissed the hosts’ skipper Kieron Pollard. From there on, the Delhi fast bowler didn’t look back and then went on to make his ODI debut as well, though he is yet to make a significant impact in the format. The speedster is now in the Test squad for the tour of New Zealand, starting February 21.
Saini having a great run
Ishant Sharma is yet to recover from his ankle injury that he suffered during the Ranji Trophy. If he doesn’t get fit then Saini may end up making his Test debut as well at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. In June 2018, he was picked as Mohammed Shami’s replacement for the one-off Test against Afghanistan. But to his dismay, he couldn’t break into the playing eleven.
Then in 2019, he cranked up the pace for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has also gotten immense support from Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian batsman, who has even fought with the DDCA for Saini’s future in cricket.
In the meantime, amidst his break in the Black Caps’ tour, Saini is enjoying heart out. He recently had the chance of celebrating Valentine’s Day on February 14. He uploaded a picture from Hamilton along with his girlfriend, wishing her on the occasion.
In the picture, Saini looked delighted as his girlfriend was seen, planting a kiss. Saini is known for his shy nature and has hardly spilled the beans on his love life thus far. However, this time around, he couldn’t stop himself from showering love for her on the social media platform.
He captioned the picture and wrote, “Happy valentine’s day (love emoji),”
