Former British Prime Minister David Cameron who was present at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on Saturday joked that the English Test team who is currently playing a 5-match Test series in India might want to kidnap batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar to train the team that is currently getting battered at the hands of Virat Kohli’s young brigade. Team India is currently leading the 5-match Test series 2-0 with two more matches to go.

The veteran politician was at his oratorical best at the summit where leaders from around the world gathered to discuss the change India needs for its betterment. Cameron also stated that he was genuinely zealous about the connect between India and the United Kingdom not just because “shared ties of history and culture” but also due to the “modern partnership” based on jobs and investments.

“Every time I come (to India), I am blown away by the progress and the potential that I see,” he said, as the audience around him gave him a huge round of applause. In the jam-packed auditorium surrounded by big leaders, Cameron also spoke about the shared love for the “beautiful game of cricket”.

Having already taken an unassailable lead Team India will press hard to make the scoreline 4-0 by the end of the series. “Given the way the Test series (between the two countries) is going… we need to kidnap him (Tendulkar) … for training,” he said.

Cameron was not done yet as he gave three beautiful life lessons. He said, “Never play golf with US President Barack Obama (because you cannot win), never go to a party with Silvio Berlusconi (controversial former Italian PM) and probably don’t appear on a platform in front of 60,000 people with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi — because you will never “compete with his rhetoric” and ability to connect with the people”.
