On Saturday, August 15, MS Dhoni retired from international cricket and thereafter he was showered with praises not only from the cricket world, but also from Bollywood and other sectors. The 39-year-old decided to call it a day through a post on Instagram where he showed the ups and downs of his career with a popular song ‘Main Pal Do Pal Ka Shayar Hu’ in the background.

The veteran keeper last played in the 2019 World Cup and will next be seen, plying his trade for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also planning to host a farewell match for the Jharkhand-born apart from a proper felicitation ceremony.

Even former cricketer Madan Lal and the Jharkhand Chief Minister reckon that Dhoni should be given a proper farewell, paying tribute to his glorious career.

Media calls in wrong Yuvraj

In the meantime, one of the news channels made an error in judgement while covering Dhoni’s news of retirement. The anchor said that they have former Indian all-round cricketer Yuvraj Singh as their guest only to later realise the goof-up. Even the person on-air said that the channel went for the wrong Yuvraj.

“Yuvraj Singh bhi humare saath hai. Bahut emotional karne wala pal hai. Duniya ke mahantam cricketers mein se ek jab cricket ko alvida kahte hai (Yuvraj Singh is with us. This is a moment that makes us emotional, When one of the greatest cricketers in the world says goodbye to the game),” the anchor was quoted as saying, introducing Singh.

“Mai toh Yuvraj Singh bol he nahi raha hoon. Aap galat bande ko le aaye. Aapki TRP toh kharab nhi hogyi. (I am not Yuvraj Singh. You have called the wrong guy. Hope your TRP won’t get affected),” the person, on-air, said.

Nevertheless, Twitterati saw the funnier side of it. “Last night I got a call on my number and before I knew it I was being interviewed as Yuvraj Singh on zee news…this is what happened next,” tweeted @ashraysharma21.
