The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on July 18 revealed the details of the payments made to cricketers for the month of June 2017. The BCCI website listed all the details, and the names of cricketers who received a payment of above Rs. 25 lacs have been listed. As per the list, former India head coach Anil Kumble received a sum of Rs. 4,875,000 as a fee for the month of April 2017. For his one year contract as the head coach, the former spinner was paid close to Rs. 6.25 crore.

On the other hand, opener Rohit Sharma has been paid an amount of Rs. 1.12 crore as “share of gross revenue 2015-16 international tournament played in and outside India”. Ajinkya Rahane, who is the vice captain in Tests and also was the highest run-getter in the recently concluded West Indies ODI series has been paid Rs 1.10 crore as share of gross revenue for the same period. As for premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, he was paid Rs. 2.01 crore. Also listed is the payment details for Umpires and match referees who worked in the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Rohit was rested for the West Indies tour but is back for the tour to Sri Lanka which begins later this month. His comeback means Ajinkya Rahane’s opening slot in coloured clothes is again uncertain. Kumble has resigned shortly before the tour to the Caribbean Islands after a rift with captain Virat Kohli. India won the ODI series but lost the lone T20I by 9 wickets, all of that without a head coach.

Shastri’s extended coaching staff

The tour to Sri Lanka will be Ravi Shastri’s first assignment as the head coach and the coaching staff for the team was named today. Sanjay Bangar has been named the assistant whereas Bharat Arun will take up the responsibility as the bowling coach of the team while there is no clarity over the role of Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan.
